ANSTO Board member, Professor David Copolov, has been awarded with the Order of Australia in the General Division (OAM) for service to medical research, to professional organisations and to higher education.
Chief Executive Officer for ANSTO, Dr Adi Paterson, has congratulated Professor Copolov, saying:
“We join all Australians in acknowledging the tremendous contribution he has made in his field of research and for his commitment to the ANSTO Board.”
Professor Copolov was appointed to the ANSTO Board in May 2008. He is also Pro Vice-Chancellor (Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President) and Professor of Psychiatry, Monash University.
Professor Copolov has had an esteemed career, spending nineteen years as Director of the Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria. He has also held the position of Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne. He has been recognised for his research into, and treatment of, auditory hallucinations.
Professor Copolov provides advice to Federal and State advisory groups on a range of mental health issues.
