Chartered accountant, Ms Carol Holley has been appointed and Professor Andrew Scott has been reappointed to the board of ANSTO, the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation.
Announcing the appointments, the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, said Ms Holley and Professor Scott would ensure that ANSTO Board continued to have high quality members with specialised skills, knowledge and expertise.
“Ms Holley has extensive experience as a board member and Chair of audit and risk committees. She offers strong finance, risk management and audit skills plus related industry knowledge,” said Mr Pyne.
“She will play an important role in reinforcing ANSTO’s strong financial management, as well as providing commercial expertise.”
“Renowned medical specialist Professor Scott holds several prestigious position including Scientific Director of Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Department of Molecular Imaging and Therapy, Austin Health and Laboratory Head, Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, Melbourne. He has been an ANSTO Board member since 2007,” Mr Pyne said.
“Professor Scott’s reappointment will continue to provide the ANSTO Board with extensive nuclear medicine and medical diagnostic imaging expertise, supporting the ANSTO Nuclear Medicine project.”
The project aims to ensure that Australians continue to have reliable access to nuclear medicine, helping to diagnose cancer, heart disease and other common illnesses. ANSTO Nuclear Medicine will position Australia as a global leader in the high-end manufacturing of nuclear medicines.
“I warmly congratulate Ms Holley and Professor Scott on their appointment. I look forward to their contributions to the Board as ANSTO reinforces its position as an internationally recognised nuclear science and technology research and development centre,” Mr Pyne said.
