In order to install the new monochromators for ourEMU back scattering spectrometer and KOOKABURRA Ultra-small-angle-neutron-scattering instrument, which are upstream of PLATYPUS, a section of guide had to be replaced, prior to return of service.

This section of guide, supplied by Mirrotron, has now been successfully installed and aligned.  The image to the right shows the transition from the full 20-cm high TG-3 guide (left) to the shorter PLATYPUS guide (lower right), under which the EMU monochromator will be located.

The monochromator shielding for EMU is in the background, looking out towards the full spectrometer.
