ANSTO is encouraging BlueScope Steel workers to discuss opportunities to work at ANSTO at an employment fair in Wollongong this Friday and Saturday.

Situated at Lucas Heights, south of Sydney, ANSTO already employs 284 people from the Illawarra and many BlueScope workers have skills that are transferable to the operations of ANSTO.

About 25 per cent of ANSTO’s workforce is drawn from the Illawarra and it is estimated that on average, ANSTO injects almost $69 million every year into the Illawarra economy.

BlueScope workers can register their interest in working for ANSTO on the ANSTO website. ANSTO will try and match suitable people with any vacancies that may arise.

ANSTO is only a 40 minute drive from Wollongong, so opportunities are available for BlueScope workers to continue to live in the Illawarra and to develop their skills in scientific and engineering fields renowned for upholding the highest standards.

BlueScope workers are encouraged to discuss these opportunities at the employment fair or to register their interest in working for ANSTO at the ANSTO vacancies page

ANSTO operates Australia’s only nuclear research reactor, OPAL which produces 10,000 crucial doses for nuclear medicine procedures each week, and is one of Australia’s leading centres for scientific research.
