Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), Professor Helen Garnett had her achievements in leadership of a government entity recognised with a nomination as a finalist in the 2002 Telstra Business Womens Awards.
As CEO of ANSTO since 1995, Professor Garnett was one of six finalists for the hotly contested Community and Government Award.
She was selected as a finalist on the basis of a range of criteria including professional, personal and community achievements.
Fellow nominee in the same section, Professor Di Yerbury, Vice-Chancellor of Macquarie University, went on to be named NSW Business Woman of the Year.
