New appointment for Dr Ziggy Switkowski

Today the CEO of ANSTO, Dr Adi Paterson, congratulated Dr Ziggy Switkowski on his appointment as Chancellor of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). Dr Switkowski will retire as chairman of ANSTO at the end of his current term.

Dr Paterson has offered his congratulations to Dr Switkowski on his new appointment.

“I would like to thank Dr Switkowski for his tremendous contribution to ANSTO over the past five years both in his role as a board member and chairman of the Board. He has overseen some incredible achievements during that time; in particular the commissioning and successful criticality and credibility of the OPAL research reactor. OPAL is now one of the most productive research reactors and is highly sought after by scientists around the world.”

“In addition, during his tenure with ANSTO, the organisation has seen increased revenue streams and expanded its capital programmes to ensure that Australia’s landmark research infrastructure remains at the forefront of global science.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Switkowski for his tireless work for ANSTO, his unerring advice to me personally and the executive team and his leadership as Chairman of the ANSTO Board.”

“Dr Switkowski has been unfailing in giving solid advice to the Board and providing clear direction for ANSTO, as well as his contribution and input into the directions for ANSTO”s Corporate Plan which lays out the strategic priorities for the organisation to 2015.”

“These priorities will ensure that ANSTO can continue to make great contributions in areas of crucial development, including nuclear medicine, climate change research and other peaceful uses of nuclear technology.”

“There is no doubt that Dr Switkowski has made a tremendous contribution to the organisation and the broader nuclear research field in Australia.”
