National Science Week (16- 24 August) is an annual event that helps to mark Australia’s celebration of science.

Crystals in the City
With the UN declaring 2014 the International Year of Crystallography we’ll be showcasing a number of giant crystal structures in cities across Australia and explaining how we know where each and every one of their atoms are arranged. Learn more

What does Harry Potter, Back to the Future, James Bond and Star Wars movies all have in common? Their sci-fi inventions will all be put to the test at our popular Fact or Fiction shows. Learn more.
Space Oddity
Take your protein pills, put your helmet on and join astronaut Chris Hadfield in celebrating National Science Week. The former commander of the International Space Station is heading to Australia for the first time, and in his only Sydney shows he’ll be appearing alongside social media celebrities Derek Muller (Veritasium), Dr Carin Bondar (Scientific American, Discovery) and Destin Sandlin (Smarter Every Day). Neural Knitworks
The Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Art Centre will unveil a large brain installation as part of the Neural Knitworks project. The large installation is a collection of handmade textile neurons crafted by people from all over Australia. Learn more.
