ANSTO has a very strong presence this week's biennial Congress of the Australian Institute of Physics, which is being held at the University of New South Wales.
In addition to an invited lecture on "What Physics can do for the Engineering Industry" by Lyndon Edwards, Head of Materials Engineering, Bragg Institute staff are giving a further 3 invited lectures: Max Avdeev on "High-Temperature Structural and Magnetic Transitions in Perovskite-type Technates", David Cortie on "The Magnetic Velcro Effect" and Shane Kennedy on "Opportunities for Materials Research using OPAL, Australia's New Neutron Source".
Furthermore, ANSTO is the sponsor for the Conference Dinner on Tuesday evening, and the whole meeting commences under the chair of ANSTO CEO, Adi Paterson, with a plenary lecture on "Science for the Energy Challenge" by Thom Mason, Director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the USA.
Finally, in the general program, ANSTO staff are making many more presentations either orally, or as posters, in sessions as diverse as Condensed-Matter Physics, Rheology, Biomedical Physics, Complex Systems, and Industry.
