US author, Tom Blees will present an ANSTO Distinguished Lecture about the ideas presented in his book, Prescription for the Planet – including his radical solution for the international energy and environmental crisis.
Members of the public are invited to attend his public appearance in Sydney at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, Lucas Heights on Tuesday 9 February.
Mr Blees asserts there are new technologies that can provide the world with abundant energy while cutting carbon emissions to zero. The solutions include integral fast reactors, syngas, and metal-fueled cars.
Mr Blees has led a diverse and adventurous life, skippering a fishing boat on the Bering Sea for twenty years, and founding a charity in Central America. Following the success of his book, he is in demand as a speaker around the world. He is president of the Science Council for Global Initiatives, a new international organisation which aims to drive the energy revolution he is proposing.
The talk commences at the AINSE Theatre, opposite to the ANSTO Visitor Centre, at 1.30 pm on Tuesday 9 February. The lecture is free to the public and scheduled to run for 45 minutes, followed by question time.
