Today, ANSTO approved the scope, budget and estimated schedule for the installation of the BioRef reflectometer which will be transferred from the BER-II Reactor in Germany to OPAL and will be the 14th neutron beam instrument at OPAL.
The scope of the project includes the installation of the CG2B neutron guide and BioRef reflectometer, and delivers scope for the installation of a future instrument on CG2B. This approval follows the signing of the transfer agreement between Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin and ANSTO in September 2015.
ANSTO staff with the assistance of HZB staff are scheduled to dismantle the BioRef reflectometer in Germany during September 2016 and package up for shipping to Australia. Congratulations to Anton Le Brun and Stewart Pullen on this success!
