Today the OPAL Reactor came back to power, a day and a half earlier than planned, following a 6-week planned 5-yearly shutdown.
In this period, we successfully installed the in-pile components for the new CG-2 split guide which will feed the new BILBY time-of-flight SANS instrument.
Our 3-axis spectrometers TAIPAN and SIKA can resume their activities immediately - TAIPAN's shutter was opened today.
However the other instruments in the Neutron Guide Hall will not resume service until March 2013, as we are replacing large portions of their guides.
