- 76% agreed that ANSTO helps Australia keep pace with world nuclear research and 71% believe it has a key role to play in ensuring Australia keeps pace with relevant international business sectors.
- 36% said they had an understanding of ANSTO’s involvement in the commercialisation of intellectual property.
- Business believes ANSTO needs to raise its profile, educate the community and communicate more frequently about its work.
Government findings summary:
- 50 government stakeholders surveyed (federal, state, local governments and emergency services).
- 98% believe they have a detailed understanding or some knowledge of ANSTO’s work.
- 94% believe it is very or quite important to have a nuclear S&T facility in Australia.
- 68% said they had seen or read a great deal or quite a lot about ANSTO.
- 54% said what they had heard or read had been more positive than negative, with 34% saying what they had heard or read had been balanced or they didn’t know.
- 96% do not believe ANSTO puts the community at risk.
- 80% agree that ANSTO does cutting edge scientific research for the benefit of all Australians.
- 94% believe ANSTO is an important Australian organisation, with 74% very strongly in favour of its existence.
- 94% believe that ANSTO assists the Australian Government in keeping abreast of international nuclear developments – peaceful and non-peaceful.
