First neutrons into Emu

Last night, for the first time, we opened the shutter to our Emu backscattering spectrometer.  Emu is the 13th neutron beam instrument at the OPAL Research Reactor, and it was funded by the Australian Government's Super-Science Initiative in 2009.

Congratulations to Nicolas de Souza on achieving this important milestone, along with a large team of engineers, technicians and computing specialists, as well as fellow instrument scientists Gail Iles and Alice Klapproth.
