Last financial year (July 2014 - June 2015) proved to be the best ever for the Institute, in terms of both the number of user responses and the scores given by the users on the quality our service. 94 formal responses were received, exceeding the previous best of 61, back in 2009-10, and the average score was also the highest since we started surveying users formally, back in 2000.
Congratulations particularly to Nicholas Timperon, who was positively cited the most of all of our staff, and the sample-environment team who were the most cited group within the Institute. Our QUOKKA small-angle scattering instrument was the most cited of our instruments.
In addition, in the last year, we have recorded by far the the largest number (13) yet of “Actions in Response to User Feedback”
While the scores in response to the specific questions are all generally high, and rising, they perhaps indicate that we most need to concentrate on:
Question 15: facilities and training for immediate (quick-look) data reduction / analysis; followed by
Question 13: user-friendliness of the instrument(s) (including documentation); and
Question 14: time allowed for my experiment
