Staff seconded to overseas neutron sources

A number of the Institute's staff are being seconded, for various lengths of time, to comparable facilities overseas during the 5-month shutdown of OPAL's Neutron Guide Hall (November 2012 - March 2013) and as consequence of the current lack of cold neutrons from OPAL.

In some cases, we are trying to help our users get experiments done using cold neutron instruments elsewhere.  In other cases, it is part of the career development plan for the staff involved, and we are also helping other facilities commission and run instruments similar to our own.

In detail, Andrew Nelson, Katy Wood and Vladimir Luzin are going to the NIST Centre for Neutron Research in the USA, Stephen Holt and Norman Booth are going to the ISIS spallation neutron source in the UK, and Dehong Yu is going to the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge in the USA.
