Staff from ANSTO are limbering up for a big fundraising effort as sponsors and participants in the Sutherland Shire Relay for Life.
Dr Michael Zettinig said that ANSTO will contribute at least three teams, including a young team comprising ANSTO’s 2013 intake of graduates.
“We are very excited to not only be sponsoring the event, but to be taking part in the largest Relay for Life on the east coast of Australia,” said Michael.
“ANSTO staff are always to be found at local community events, but this is the first time we have organised our own teams and provided sponsorship.

“Our staff are passionate about the fight against cancer, so it is not difficult to find willing participants. It is also a great opportunity for us to engage with the community.
ANSTO will have a marquee and we will offer one iPad as a prize to people who can display their knowledge of nuclear medicine.”

ANSTO staff have already raised thousands of dollars for the NSW Cancer Council by holding barbecues, cake stalls, raffles and chocolate sales on site, and will add significantly to the total through donations as part of the relay on 4 and 5 May.
