The Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) and the Australian Synchrotron (AS) are partners in two successful ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centres "Surface Engineering for Advanced Materials" lead by Christopher Berndt from Swinburne University of Technology and "Multiscale 3D Imaging, Modelling and Manufacturing" lead by Mark Knackstedt from the Australian National University.
The ARC Training Centre in Surface Engineering for Advanced Materials involving Vladimir Luzin from ACNS aims to support advanced manufacturing in Australia in the area of surface engineering for advanced materials such as thin films to thick coatings and additive layered materials.
The ARC Training Centre for Multiscale 3D Imaging, Modelling and Manufacturing involving Ulf Garbe from ACNS and Christopher Hall from the AS, seeks to connect the detailed microscopic characteristics of materials with their macroscopic properties and design characteristics of natural and manufactured structures and has strong linkages with the neutron and synchrotron imaging capabilities at ANSTO.
