The Program Advisory Committee, chaired this time by A/Prof Tracy Rushmer (Macquarie University), has met over the last two days to assess the scientific merit of beam-time and deuteration proposals submitted for time between July and December 2016.
209 cold- and thermal-neutron experiments (along with proposals to the National Deuteration Facility) were recommended for approval, with beam time allocations as follows: 80 days on ECHIDNA, 81 on WOMBAT, 71 on KOALA, 75 on KOWARI, 77 on TAIPAN, 90 on PLATYPUS, 99 on QUOKKA, 73 on DINGO, 90 on PELICAN, 88 on KOOKABURRA, and 34 on BILBY, and 42 on EMU (subject to receiving its operating licence from ARPANSA). 73 days of non-Taiwan beam time on SIKA were awarded. The variation is primarily due to time set aside for proprietary work, pre-approved programs of research from previous proposal rounds and time set aside for the mail-in service on ECHIDNA.
This is the last meeting for Joanne Etheridge and we thank her for her service on this committee.
