The CG2 out-of-pile guide sections are now in position and aligned, with the installation running smoothly over a period covering the last 3 weeks.
The work was performed by a team of Swiss Neutronics and Bragg Institute technicians.
Together with this, changes to the biological shielding took place, allowing for the extension of the CG2A and CG2B guides into the OPAL's Neutron Guide Hall.
The CG2A guide is for the newBilby time-of-flight SANS instrument, while the CG2B guide will allow for future expansion - possibly for a second neutron reflectometer plus other instuments.
