Giant magnetocaloric effect in layered rare-earth compounds

Research performed using our WOMBAT high-intensity powder diffractometer, on the Giant Magnetocaloric Effect in Pr0.5Y0.5Mn2Ge2 has been published in the prestigious physics journal Physical Review Letters


The magnetocaloric effect is of interest both for fundamental reasons and because of its potential applications in magnetic refrigeration
