Today, the Bragg Institute celebrates ten years of existence, growth and successful operation. It was on this date in 2002 that the Institute was formed, including the staff of the Australian Synchrotron Research Program.
At that time we predominantly used the neutron beam facilities of the old HIFAR Reactor and were in the thick of designing the initial 8 instruments for OPAL.
We were already working hand-in-glove with ANSTO-Engineering, with a common project team and all located in a single building.
In 2002, we had 36 staff, plus 6 postdoctoral fellows and 3 in-house graduate students. Of these, 19 are with the Institute in 2012, though some have left and returned within that period.
