The first research paper from our new Kookaburra Ultra-Small-Angle Neutron Scattering instrument has been accepted for publication in American Mineralogist. The work on natural and synthetic sulfide ores, including some from Olympic Dam, was performed as part of Kookaburra's commissioning, prior to entering user service.
It features data from a number of pinhole-SANS and USANS instruments, around the world, including Quokka at OPAL. It results from a collaboration between University of Adelaide, Flinders University, CSIRO, ANSTO, the Institut Laue-Langevin, the Technical University of Vienna, Argonne National Laboratory, and the Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute.
The full reference will be: "Characterization of Porosity in Sulfide Ore Minerals: a USANS/SANS Study", F. Xia, J. Zhao, B. E. Etschmann, J. Brugger, C. Garvey, C. Rehm, H. Lemmel, J. Iavsky, Y.-S. Han and A. Pring, accepted for publication in American Mineralogist.
