From out of this world spaceships to abstract impressions of owls, students from Kindergarten to Year 10 have let their paint brushes do the talking in the name of kids health with their artworks now on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Operation Art was opened by the Hon. Jillian Skinner MP, Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research, with this year's exhibit showcasing 789 pieces, submitted by 800 students from 277 schools.

ANSTO is the proud main sponsor of Operation Art and attended the event with Shaun Jenkinson, General Manager of ANSTO Commercial Operations speaking at the event and presenting the Senior ANSTO award.

The exhibition is free with 50 of the best pieces to be on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales until 21 October before touring New South Wales. The exhibition with all 789 Operation Art exhibits can be viewed at the Amory at Sydney Olympic Park until 21 October.

Operation Art aids the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network in providing a total healing environment - where artworks created by school children from across NSW help to provide a vibrant and positive environment that complements the best possible medical care to help heal patients.

It is an initiative of the Children's Hospital at Westmead in association with the NSW Department of Education and Communities.
