A bit of Easter fun in the Sutherland Shire

This year ANSTO held its incredibly popular Easter school science workshops. The workshops were a fantastic opportunity for budding young scientists to participate in some educational, tasty and slightly messy Easter fun.

These workshops are a tasty way to get kids excited about science.

Destined to be a hit with sweet tooths and junior scientists alike, the 80-minute workshops gave kids the chance to:

  • Compete in an egg drop, designing ways to protect an egg then dropping it to see if it worked
  • Create edible chocolate ‘‘slime’’
  • Make colour patterns with the Smarties colour wheel

“These workshops were a slimy and tasty way of getting kids excited about science and the art of conducting an experiment,” said Rod Dowler from ANSTO’s Discovery Centre
