A free science lecture held at ANSTO explored a new pact between a top European research institute and Australia and what it means for the local science community.
The newly created EMBL Australia is the first non-European associate member of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory - one of the world's pre-eminent life science research institutes.
The invitation for Australia to collaborate with the EMBL will provide the basis of joint research, access to world class research infrastructure, new technologies, techniques, training and networking opportunities for Australian scientists and result in a unique opportunity to leverage and build on Australian talent and knowledge base in science, technology and innovation
One of the leading advocates for creating EMBL Australia Professor Nadia Rosenthal, Director of the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute at Monash University, visited ANSTO to explain what benefits this would offer Australian science.
Professor Rosenthal offered a snapshot of the EMBL and how it would operate in Australia.
Her presentation was part of ANSTO's Distinguished Lecture series held monthly at the AINSE theatre at our Lucas Heights campus, which sees some of the world's brightest scientific minds providing leading insights.
