Charley explained the theory of an Atavistic Model of cancer’s evolutionary origin. |
In his talk, Charley explained the theory of an Atavistic Model of cancer’s evolutionary origin. Charley, an engaging speaker, opened up the discussion to the audience, which proved to be an entertaining and informative interaction. He spoke about a new theory of the origin and nature of cancer and its progression. The talk also focussed on the role that radiation therapy can play in a target-the-weakness strategy for cancer treatments.
About the speaker
Dr. Lineweaver obtained an undergraduate degree in physics from Ludwig Maximilians Universitat, Munich, Germany and earned a Ph.D. in physics at the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. Before his appointment at
ANU, he held post-doctoral positions at Strasbourg Observatory and the University of New South Wales where he taught one of the most popular general studies courses "Are We Alone?"
Now at ANU he studies the statistical distribution of exoplanets and cosmological prerequisites for the formation of terrestrial planets and life. As a member of the COBE satellite team, they discovered the temperature fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background radiation.
