The Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) Dr Adi Paterson has congratulated the Director of the Australian Synchrotron, Professor Keith Nugent on his new appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research) at La Trobe University.
Dr Paterson praised Professor Nugent’s key role securing the future of the Australian Synchrotron and forging close links with ANSTO.
“Professor Nugent is a valued advisor to ANSTO and we will continue to work with him as a source of advice and guidance.”
Dr Paterson said that while negotiations about the future operation of the Australian Synchrotron continue, ANSTO looks forward to working more closely with staff from the facility.
“Just like our OPAL research reactor, the Synchrotron is one of Australia’s truly world class scientific platforms, and delivers world class research to users from Australia, New Zealand and beyond. We share a fundamental interest in providing great research platforms and partnerships to our communities.
“It is a logical progression for us to work closely together for the benefit of the Australian synchrotron and accelerator community as a whole, based on our neutron scattering and other user oriented research facilities.”
