Today ANSTO successfully applied standard operating procedures in relation to the receipt of a suspect letter. The letter was immediately quarantined and then examined on-site in a controlled manner and found to be harmless.
All relevant ANSTO security and external emergency response units (NSW Police and Fire Brigade) who attended are fully trained in relevant emergency procedures. ANSTO was pleased with the response and outcome.
The letter, which contained erratic writing and statements, is being further tested by police forensics.
The event was handled in a professional and effective manner. It once again illustrates the organisation’s ability to handle emergency situations.
