ANSTO has been advised that the French Court of Appeal of Caen has upheld COGEMA’s appeal against the legal action initiated by Greenpeace, which delayed the unloading of a consignment of spent fuel from the HIFAR research reactor at the French port of Cherbourg.
COGEMA has advised that the unloading of the spent fuel will commence today.
This decision by the French court is welcomed by ANSTO and demonstrates the viability of the spent fuel management arrangements for HIFAR and the replacement research reactor.
