ANSTO welcomes national research priority announcement

ANSTO welcomed the Prime Minister's announcement today of Australia's national research priorities. Having attended today's announcement, ANSTO's Chief Executive Officer, Professor Helen Garnett, said that ANSTO was especially pleased to see that the priorities and associated goals were thematic in nature and inspirational to the scientific and broader Australian community.

'Through the national priorities, ANSTO sees many opportunities to contribute to elements such as groundwater, acidity, nanotechnology. And, of course, the 'Safeguarding Australia' theme is one where ANSTO can contribute,' Professor Garnett said.

'The forum that will take place early next year will provide scope for ANSTO to further enhance and strengthen its existing collaborations and make new linkages that will provide an opportunity to maximise the value of our research and enhance the use of our research facilities.'

'Once the replacement research reactor is commissioned, the beam instruments and the facilities on the reactor will underpin research in several of the themes,' Professor Garnett said.
