First neutron diffraction pattern from ECHIDNA

The first neutron-diffraction pattern from OPAL was recorded today, on the ECHIDNA high-resolution powder diffractometer, as part of the commissioning process. 

 

These data were from sand (silica) from one of the local beaches on the Pacific Ocean.
