Photos from Dr Andrew Smith's expedition to Greenland

Following on from his blogs from Antarctica last year and earlier in 1997 and 2005, ANSTO Research Scientist Dr Andrew Smith is continuing his work studying isotopes produced by cosmic rays, this time from the summit of Greenland where he and a team of researchers will face some of the coldest temperatures on Earth.

The team is based at Summit Camp, also known as Summit Station, which is a year-round research station on the apex of the Greenland Ice Sheet, located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

While communications with the team are limited, Dr Smith is periodically sending photos highlighting the expedition and some of the breath-taking landscapes found at Greenland. Click on the images below to enlarge.
