ANSTO is offering university graduates the chance to work in one of Australia’s most advanced research organisations. Applications are now open for up to 24 people to enter ANSTO’s two year graduate program, starting in early 2013.
The positions are based in Lucas Heights, in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire. ANSTO is home of some of Australia’s best technology, including our only nuclear reactor, and is a centre for cutting-edge health, environmental and minerals research.
Applicants will come from a range of academic backgrounds including engineering, the sciences, accounting, IT, human resource management, communications and finance. ANSTO’s Graduate Program Coordinator, Megan Lusty-Evans, said the graduate program provides a valuable learning experience for people entering the workforce after tertiary study.
“ANSTO’s graduate program is an excellent opportunity for people to work with some of the brightest minds and best technology in Australia,” Ms Lusty-Evans said.
“Our organisation has unique technology and infrastructure, and a highly skilled workforce. In fact, around a quarter of our almost 1,200 employees base are PHD-qualified.
“It’s a given that an organisation such as ours provides great training for young people looking to pursue careers in maths, engineering and across the range of the sciences.
“And as a public agency with commercial services, we also offer great opportunities for people wanting to work in the business services
“The ANSTO Graduate Development Program will give graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their field, and guidance and mentoring from industry experts.”
The ANSTO graduate program has historically enjoyed high rates of staff retention, thanks to its mix of practical experience and professional development opportunities.
- Of the original 12 graduates who started in 2008, nine remain with the organisation and have moved into other roles within ANSTO. Three of those are about to start PHDs.
- Of the 24 graduates who started in early 2011, 21 remain working with the organisation in the graduate program.
Applicants must be Australian citizens who are either in their final year of study, or who have recently completed a degree.
