Licence for new instrument at OPAL – JOEY Laue Alignment Camera

Today our nuclear regulator, ARPANSA, gave approval to commence neutron beam testing of JOEY, our new Laue alignment camera.

When fully operational JOEY will not be available through the normal proposal system, as it is intended to play a supporting role in alignment of single crystals for our TAIPAN and SIKA 3-axis spectrometers.

It will be requested and booked on an ad-hoc basis. JOEY is situated on the TG3 thermal guide, downstream of KOWARI and KOALA, and will be operated by Clemens Ulrich’s group at the University of New South Wales.
